Department of Family Services
Provides economic assistance services in the form of SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, LIEAP (home heating help) and more at local field offices. Manages juvenile probation for the state, licensing all facilities housing and treating youth. DFS also is the state's child care licensing authority. The agency also works to enforce existing child support orders or work with families to establish paternity, child and medical support orders.
