U.S. Department of Education Releases 2011 Application for Promise Neighborhoods Program

The U.S. Department of Education released today the application for the second phase of the Promise Neighborhoods program, including new implementation grants and a second round of planning grants, totaling $30 million.

Nonprofits, institutions of higher education and Indian tribes are eligible to apply for funds to develop or execute plans that will improve educational and developmental outcomes for students in distressed neighborhoods.

Needs, Inc. receives $11,500

Needs, Inc. has been awarded an $11,500.00 grant from Discount Tire Company’s regional philanthropy program, Driven to Care. These funds will be used to expand the walk in freezer, and to support the pantry that serves our community.  Discount Tire Company, located at 1716 Prairie Avenue in Cheyenne, opened in November of last year.
