Housing
The Issue
Housing costs are rising throughout Laramie County. Many families do not have access to credit or to housing options that fall within their economic means. The net result is a growing number of Laramie County families that cannot obtain adequate housing. Repeated moving strains family relationships, affects the emotional well-being of children, impacts schools and community resources, and leads to other adverse social outcomes.
Our Plan
LCCP members spearhead multiple initiatives aimed at increasing access to affordable, safe and clean rental properties in Laramie County. This effort includes expanding programs for rental subsidies and emergency utility assistance. We are working toward providing mediation for landlord/tenant disputes and continue to advocate for stricter laws on predatory lending and tenant rights. Finally, we connect residents to credit counseling services so that they can understand their financial situations and make informed, practical decisions.
