Healthier Laramie County

The Issue

Missed vaccinations. Skipped checkups. Lack of health insurance. These and other factors combine to put people at higher risk for serious health problems.  Unfortunately, many residents of Laramie County lack the information and support they need to maintain good health. In addition, the high cost of care—especially for the uninsured—causes many to deny themselves routine health care altogether. The results are predictable: more costly emergency room visits, more diseases that are diagnosed too late, and too many people suffering from otherwise preventable health problems.

Our Plan

LCCP members are making preventative health care accessible and affordable.  Our efforts include expanding emergency prescription services, strengthening vaccination delivery, establishish a county-wide cancer coalition, and increasing tobacco cessation assistance.  In addition, we are expanding nutrition and weight management education and continuing efforts to combat alcohol and drug abuse. Our unified efforts are making homes, workplaces, schools and clinics places where key information is available, effective programs are provided, and exceptional care is delivered.
