UW offers board training class in Cheyenne

Juliet Daniels with the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service is offering the “Leading with Excellence: Tools for Being an Effective Board Member” training series this fall. According to Daniels “The series is designed to help individuals who have never served and those currently serving on boards get more involved and become more effective leaders.” The training sessions will cover board responsibilities & good governance, tools for effective meetings & decision making, financial management of non-profit organizations, and conflict resolution & effective communication.
The five session “Leading with Excellence” series starts on Thursday, September 1st, 2011, and concludes on Thursday, September 29 2011. The fee for the series is $55. Discounts for multiple attendees from an organization and scholarships are available. Classes will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Laramie County Extension Office in the Historic Court House and will be taught by Juliet Daniels, Southeast Area Community Development Educator for the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service.

StrongWomen Train-the-Trainer for the state of Wyoming on Tuesday, October 4, in Casper

UW Extension will be sponsoring another StrongWomen Train-the-Trainer for the state of Wyoming on Tuesday, October 4, in Casper.
The cost of registration is $150 to cover the StrongWomen tool-kit, snacks, and lunch.
Training will occur at the Natrona County Agricultural Resource and Learning Center (Extension office).
Participants must have some strength-training experience but this can be done prior to the training.

The workshop dates are Thursday, September 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, September 16, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,
At the Alice Hardie Stevens Center, Laramie, Wyoming.
This workshop will prepare and equip participants to systematically assess individuals in their local districts or work settings. WATR staff will join attendees as they explore, practice, and realize the steps involved in reaching a viable and appropriate communication outcome.
The registration deadline is Thursday, September 1.
Cost for this workshop is $215 per person.

Imagine a tool that would show the direct impact of proposed anti-poverty ef forts in reducing the number of poor people in your state. Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity will sponsor a national audio conference examining Poverty Impact Projections (PIPs), an emerging tool that assesses the effect that proposed policy would have on the number of people in poverty. Speakers will discuss how PIPs have helped them in the past and how states can tailor PIP analysis to their own policies and programs.
