2-1-1 Call System
The Issue
A family is about to have the power turned off. A senior can’t afford her medications. Every hour of every day, people in Laramie County face immediate, diverse challenges. For many, this may be the first time they require a particular type of assistance. In most cases, people do not know what services are available, whether they are eligible, and how to begin the process of getting help. In addition, service organizations themselves often do not know how or where to refer people when an issue falls outside their area of expertise. The net result is that people often fall through the cracks, and their problems begin to compound—simply for a lack of information.
Our Plan
LCCP members are spearheading the creation of a pilot 2-1-1 call system. This easy-to-remember number will link callers directly to a clearinghouse of information regarding health and human service resources available in Laramie County. Trained operators will provide callers with up-to-date information regarding specific services that are available, and how to access them. The 2-1-1 system will improve efficiency and eliminate the frustration of navigating a maze of agencies and organizations. More people will connect with greater ease to the key services they need—allowing organizations and agencies to deliver help when it is needed most.
